Say it ain't so Stoked is going on an extend hiatus of unknown length.
It's a sad state of affairs when those who are voices in the community are losing patience and faith with the game. |

I think it's more then just the game that made him stop, it's the negativity of the community and the lack of Jeremy. Let's face it, if he didn't see negativity he wouldn't sponge it up into himself. Is STO doomed? no. STO will be here tomorrow, next month and the month after that. It's got a loyal fanbase that mate and produce more loyal fans. Just like any religion. (Trust me, I've seen it.) Will Chris be back? Yes. He can't stay away, he doesn't seem the type to keep his thoughts to himself. In the meantime we have Priority One to keep us up to date. And maybe someone else will start a podcast, true it's hard to produce something as slicks as Chris, but you don't need top of the line equipment to produce something good. Just a webcam, a mike and Youtube.

Hey guys, I'd like to chime in here with my $.02
It takes a real commitment of both time and energy to do something like producing a podcast, creating content in the foundry, creating a guide for the community. It's a labor of love, for the most part, and if your heart's not into it, it's really difficult to carry on. Especially when you're faced with challenges from RL (a co-host leaving or friends quitting from the game)... it takes alot to commit yourself to doing something extracurricular after something like that happens. I create two ship charts for this game. I've easily worked on it 60+ hours in a week, taking my lunch time and time after work to get it done. I don't get to play the game as much because I'm working on this huge project. (LOL I haven't even respeced any of my characters, yet.) When I started, I played STO with a group of friends and we were a fleet and I enjoyed playing this game very much. I started the chart, they encouraged me to post it, 240k hits & 1.5 years later, they've all left. Fleets I've been apart of have broken up. I've had times where I didn't want to play this anymore, sure, but the bottom line is I made a commitment to a project that was and is a labor of love. I'm not making excuses for Chris; not agreeing nor disagreeing with him either. I'm simply pointing out that projects such as these take lots of time, energy, and commitment. Not preaching... just giving a little insight into community contributors. If Chris feels that his passion is not where it should be and the show will suffer due to that fact, I can appreciate him coming out and letting the audience know. |

Indeed. We are all volunteers here and this is a labor of love and for us as well. As you mentioned Mitch, producing a podcast or a project like yours takes a lot of time. I personally have done some crazy things to make sure our show gets done well and on time every week. I can't blame Chris for moving on, with how many other irons he has in the fire.
As a STOKED viewer and longtime STO player I will miss the show and can only hope for it's speedy return. In the meantime, we welcome any new listeners and their feedback! Elliot |

Well said, Elliot.
Also: I was so high up on my soapbox that I forgot to say something that I should have: You guys continue to be a great podcast. I know it takes a considerable amount of time & dedication to do what you guys put together for the community, and it's very greatly appreciated! |
